I am in FFA and I raise breeding rabbits for show and sell them for show or pets.
I had my first litter about a month ago and now my one and only little boy bunny will be leaving on Wens to go to his new home.
I mean, I couldn't use him in show because he had two tone spots which is "imperfect" but still!
I am selling him to a girl from school for $35 but I don't know what kind of home she's going to provide for him.
And I would feel horribly rude to ask to "screen" their home. What if it didn't suit my standards? What would I say? I'm sorry you can't have one of my rabbits then go back to school and expect things to be hunky dory?
It's just that...people don't realize the responsability it takes to take care of an animal.
Ahhg this is frustrating.
Maybe I'm just used to babying my animals far too much.
lol Council me someone

Ask little questions about where he's going to be kept. If you think that she's not going to be a good owner, give her a book on rabbits and kindly educate her. Yes, that would be akward.

Yeah, you're probably thinking clearer than I would, I rarely sell my show animals cause I get too attached. XD

I appreciate your input. He's leaving tomorrow. I haven't cried but I know I will. I guess it's because I feel like he's never gonna leave at all. It's just disappointing ya know? To work so hard and put so much time and effort into something that is leaving you in the end.
Ahg, I gotta suck it up and be a woman!

I don't like to intimidate people either, but the cute little guy needs a good home. I'm going to be a Collie and Sheltie breeder in the future and I'm going to be screening homes very carefully. I doubt that screening for homes for rabbits is as much as it is for dogs, but my research tells me that I'll have to have a contract that my customers will have to sign stating things such as the dog needs to be spayed/neutered by a certain age and if they even can't keep the dog for any reason, to return him to me. Best of luck for you and your little rabbit.

So true. I'm expecting her today, but it's getting late and she hasn't showed. She called but said she wasn't sure if she could come out.
That kind of procrastination worries me ya know?

Good luck, I'm sure she'll take care of him, just tell her all the responsibilities needed to care for a rabbit. ^^

You seem like a nice seller. Haha. I give the full on inspection. I'm not afraid to say, "Sorry, your hygiene is not well, your call is horrible, if you can't take care of yourself, I'm not sure I can trust you upon caring for an animals that needs constant care, exercise, and proper feeding." =] I'm a meaner.
I mean, explain the grooming (lionheads), feeding, water bottle cleaning, and changing, hay, treats, etc.
Then they back out, or continue, if they continue, and I don't see fit, I say so.
